District 8

Welcome to District 8!

Thank you for visiting the updated website of District 8 of the Ohio Music Education Association. D8 is a geographically large district comprising the counties of Carroll, Columbiana, Jefferson, Stark, and Tuscarawas. Within these counties, we service 46 public school districts and numerous private and parochial institutions. D8 students actively participate in Solo and Ensemble adjudicated events at both the junior high and high school levels, and we maintain east and west sites for both events. We also host a junior high Large Group adjudicated event for band, choir, and orchestra, and high school Large Group adjudicated events at both the district and state level for band and choir. In the 2015-2016 school year, D8 made a commitment to offering honor festivals for band and choir students, and we hope to maintain this tradition.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in D8, please reach out! We have winter and spring meetings that you can find listed on our district calendar, and we would love to have you join us and share your ideas. Please let me know if you would like to be involved in honor festival planning for 2023-2024, have interest in hosting a future adjudicated event, or might even like to pursue a leadership position in District 8.
