How to Apply

2026 Region Orchestra/2027 All State Orchestra applications are exclusively online.   Click the "Audition Materials" button to access the music and Acceptd link to submit your recordings.

All applicants must be enrolled as members of their school's performing ensemble while applying and must be continue their participation during the 2026-27 academic year (ex. All State band applicants must be members of their school's band, All State choir applicants must be in their school's choir, All-State jazz applicants must be in their school's jazz ensemble, All State orchestra applicants for wind/percussion must be in their school's orchestra or band ensemble.)  All State orchestra applicants for wind/percussion must be in their school's orchestra or band ensemble.)  Home school students may apply if sponsored by their private teacher (must be an OMEA member).  The parent of the homeschooled student will serve as the school administrator.   Students must be enrolled in grades 9-12 for the academic year 2026-2027.  Failure to observe these rules will nullify the student's All-State/Regional eligibility. 

Options

This year there will again be 2 options for the Regional and All-State Orchestra auditions.  They are listed below in detail:

Regional AND All-State Orchestra Audition

  • Students who wish to be considered for both Regional and All-state Orchestra should choose this option
  • Students choosing this option would perform the scales, etude, and BOTH the Region and All-state Orchestral Excerpt on their audition recording
  • Students selected for All-State Orchestra would still be required to participate in their respective Regional orchestra, same as in previous years. 
  • Choosing this option does not guarantee membership in either ensemble


Regional Orchestra audition only

  • Students who wish to be considered for Regional Orchestra ONLY should choose this option.  Students choosing this option would perform the scales, etude, and Regional Orchestral Excerpt  on their audition recording. 
  • Students choosing this option would NOT be required to perform the All-State orchestra excerpt on their audition recording. 
  • Students choosing this option would not be eligible for All-State Orchestra
  • Choosing this option does not guarantee membership in Regional Orchestra
  • Students who choose to audition for Regional Orchestra only will be given equal consideration for regional membership compared to those who are auditioning for All State

About the Ensemble

The East Central Regional Orchestra is comprised of the best musicians from Richland, Ashland, Morrow, Knox, Delaware, Licking, Holmes, Coshocton, Stark, Columbiana, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Harrision, Jefferson, Muskingum, Guernsey, Belmont, Morgan, Mobile, Monroe, and Washington counties.


Regional Orchestra meets for two rehearsals and one performance.   The first rehearsal will take place on a Sunday on the last Week of Oct or first week of Nov (date TBD) 10/26  at Olentangy Orange High School.  This rehearsal will serve as a chance for you to meet the other musicians and run through the music.  The second rehearsal will take place on Saturday, November 14th.  This day will include both sectional time as well as full ensemble rehearsal.  The concert is on the following day, Sunday, November 15th at 3pm at Ashland HS


Timeline & Schedule

March 1: Audition materials are released
May 31: All audition submissions are due by 11:59pm.   

August 31: Notification of results to applicants and directors

September 30 - Acceptance forms and membership fee of $225 due (for those accepted to All State)
October 15: Registration forms and $75 payments are due for Region Participants
Date TBD: First rehearsal at Olentangy Orange High School 
November 14: Rehearsal at Ashland High School (9am-5:00pm, check-in begins at 8:30am)
November 15: Concert at Ashland High School (1pm run-through/pictures, 3pm concert)
